At first glance it definitely appears to be a beach…but then on further inspection, you can’t help but see a car.
The image has resurfaced on social media with people puzzled over the image, which shows a moody beach at first glance before the bottom of a car door appears.
The longer you stare at the weird illusion, the sooner you begin to question reality.
Car or beach? (Getty Stock Image)
One social media user just didn’t have a clue what was going on, writing: “I can see both and my mind is confused.”
Another person’s mind was elsewhere, asking: “Who else thought it was the moon?”
A third person must have been looking at something else, saying: “Am I the only one that saw two snakes?”
We can’t say we’ve spotted a snake just yet, but there’s no ruling it out.
The picture was posted to X previously and also appeared on a Reddit thread, with people all over the internet trying to make sense of what they were looking at.
The illusion was shared on social media. (X)
One person wrote: “Holy s**t I could only see the beach and didn’t know what I was supposed to be looking at,” while another added: “There’s even a ship in the distance, what the f**k?”
However, TikTok user @HecticNick has cleared things up once and for all, seemingly putting all of our minds at rest, for now.
He revealed that it is actually the bottom of a rusty car – which you can kind of see if you stare at the image really hard.
A similarly strange optical illusion occurred last year when a number of ‘absolutely bizarre’ blue swirls filled up the sky in New Zealand and have been baffling the locals ever since.
Look, up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…mysterious blue swirls…

The rather spectacular sight took place on Sunday 19 June 2022, up in the sky over Nelson and travelled 750km south to Stewart Island by 7.30pm.
What genuinely looked like something from a Star Trek film was actually believed to be something caused by the exhaust fumes from a SpaceX rocket.
Auckland University professor Richard Easther told the BBC: “When the propellant is ejected out the back, you have what’s essentially water and carbon dioxide – that briefly forms a cloud in space that’s illuminated by the sun.
“The geometry of the satellite’s orbit and also the way that we’re sitting relative to the sun – that combination of things was just right to produce these completely wacky looking clouds that were visible from the South Island.”

There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to figure out an optical illusion, and this one takes the cake.
While some people might enjoy tapping into their brains to have a go at solving things that look impossible to take on, others can’t stand it (me).
So, when a weird optical illusion cropped up on Reddit, there were a few mixed responses.
However, there are some fun pictures that are easy to get to the bottom of.
For instance, there was once a puzzle which looked like a floor of pebbles at first, until people realised there was an engagement ring in there.
Some are easier than others and even then they can be frustrating(Reddit / @raedcabello)
There’s also the ones where you need to spot the sniper, which feels impossible ’til you clock him and then he’s all you can see.
Or, there’s engaging puzzles with hidden clues that you’d need to figure out the to unravel the message.
See, these are great things that people can’t get enough of.
But this picture?
It’s a head f*ck.
Count the people and then count the legs… (Reddit)
So, it’s an image of what looks to be six normal women sitting together on a sofa.
However, take a closer look and see if you can figure out what’s wrong with this image.
That’s right (I’m going to assume you looked properly)! There are six women in this picture but it looks like there’s only five pairs of legs.
At first glance, the third woman in the picture looks like she’s just a torso with no legs, but plenty of people on Reddit have disagreed over what they’re looking at which would explain it.
One person asserted: “The first girl is sitting over the second girl’s legs.”
Someone else agreed, adding: “The second girl’s legs are behind the first girl’s legs.”
Another user provided a very detailed theory, stating: “Number one has her legs crossed, no tear in the knee. Number two has only one leg visible, the tear is in her knee.
Why did I think this illusion was a Zebra’s arse? (X/@benonwine)
“Those legs are blending together. (Follow that tear down, there’s a split where there’s a sock on the right and not on the left. Number two has a tear in her knee and a visible white sock).”
Another Reddit user focused in on the girl sitting second from the left, stating: “Her pants are the same colour, and almost blend. You can see the difference where there is a bit of sock/skin showing above the boot.”
Plenty said that the number of legs in this picture ‘doesn’t add up’, but that’s part of the fun of the internet.

A good optical illusion can really mess with your head, but did you know they can also reveal information about your personality?
Optical illusions are images that deceive or mislead our brains, exploiting how we process colour, light and patterns to trick us into seeing an image that differs from the reality of what is in front of us.
Take this picture of a group of women sitting on a couch – there are six women in the photograph but only five pairs of legs, or so it seems.
And you’d have a field day trying to find the engagement ring hidden in this picture of some pebbles.
Now, the latest optical illusion to surface online is said to determine a hidden aspect of our personalities.
Take a look at the image below:
This optical illusion is said to determine your personality (Pinterest)
At first glance, you may see both a fish and a cloud in the picture, but which one did you notice first?
According to TikToker Mia Yilin – who regularly shares brainteasers with her 449,000 followers on the social media platform – your first impression indicates that there’s more than meets the eye regarding your personality.
She says that if you saw the cloud first, you might ‘appear very brave and resilient on the outside’ but are actually ‘quite sensitive on the inside and are easily influenced by the words and actions of those around you’.
Mia goes on to explain other personality traits of those who first noticed the cloud.
“You hate the idea of settling for someone or something and have very high standards and goals,” she says.
“Your personality is so attractive and charismatic that people cannot help but be drawn to you.”
On the other hand, if it was the fish that caught your eye, then you supposedly have a ‘life is short’ attitude and try to embrace each day to its fullest.
“Your time is the most valuable thing to you, so you hate wasting it on people and things that don’t deserve it,” Mia says.
“That said, you’re also a major worrier and spend a lot of your time stressing about the unknown.”
She further elaborates: “You’re an extroverted introvert who prefers to spend time alone but can also become the life of the party when needs be.”
While your entire personality being based upon whether you see a fish or cloud may seem insane, viewers were left astounded by Mia’s insights.
One person wrote in the comments: “I believed it on extroverted introvert,” while another confirmed: “Fish and it’s all true.”
And a third said: “Fish…and definitely true… am an extroverted introvert.”
What did you see?

If there’s one thing the internet loves it’s videos of cats doing funny things, but this isn’t an article about that.
Fortunately, the internet also loves getting into a state of confusion over weird optical illusions that make less sense the more you look at them.
Take a fairly innocuous picture of some pebbles, for instance, if I were to tell you that there was an engagement ring in there somewhere you’d have loads of fun trying to spot it.
Then there’s engaging puzzles with hidden clues that you’d need to figure out to create a message.
Basically, people really love looking at things for ages and trying to figure out what it is they’re seeing.

Only people with a ‘high IQ’ are able to spot the second horse in this seriously baffling optical illusion.
Quizzes and brain teasers are a great way to keep the brain active, so what better way to start your morning then putting your mind to the test and seeing if you can crack another animal inspired optical illusion.
The last optical illusion for you to crack has been created by TiffyTaffy and asks you to locate all the horses in this image within 10 seconds.
Succeed and you can tell everyone you have a ‘high IQ‘ as well as having the satisfaction of lording it over anyone who didn’t spot it.
Ready? Your 10 second countdown begins now.
There are two horses in this photo. (TiffyTaffy.com)
There are a total of two horses in this image – are you able to see them both?
Look closely at all aspects of the photo, but don’t take too long remember as you need to be able to crack it in 10 seconds.
The first horse should be super easy to spot, seeing as though the entire foreground of the photo is taken up by a brown-and-white horse.
If you weren’t able to the first horse then it might be time to head to the opticians and get your eyes tested.
After locating horse number one you’ve got about nine seconds left to find the second, with this task proving to be a bit of a head scratcher.
Is there a second horse hiding behind the first? Or a slightly smaller one stood in front?
If you’re unable to crack the image within the first couple of seconds then it’s unlikely that scrutinising every pixel of the image is going to help, as optical illusions are something which are deliberately created to deliberately mislead your brain.
It’s usually the case that people can either easily spot an optical illusion within the first few seconds or are completely lost until someone points it out in black-and-white – which is usually followed by the ‘oh yeah’ light-bulb moment after your brain adjusts.
Still curious about where the second horse is? Look no further as we’ve got the answer for you below.
There’s two horses – though not in the way you’d think (TiffyTaffy.com)
Yep that’s right, the second horse you were looking for was the pattern of the animal’s coat, which appears to spell out the word ‘H O R S E’.
Which to be fair the optical illusion only asked you to locate the second horse, it never said anything about spotting two animals.
It’s there which lies the fun in optical illusions, they force us to think about of the box and use our brain’s to come up with creative solutions.
For those who didn’t spot it, don’t worry.
It’s highly unlikely that noticing the word horse written on the side a horse is an accurate representation of IQ anyway.
