Hugh Jackman says Heath Ledger would have been a good Wolverine

Amid all this Deadpool 3 hype, travel back in time with us to 2014 during X-Men: Days of Future Past‘s press tour – where Hugh Jackman revealed who he believes would have made a good Wolverine.

While talking to Yahoo! Movies UK, Jackman and his  co-stars Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy sat down to answer some quick Mutant-related questions.

Jackman’s personal choice for another Wolverine, being one of them.

Fassbender asked Jackman: “If you weren’t playing the character [Wolverine], who do you think would make a good Wolverine?”

“Who do you think should replace you?”

To which Jackman initially and jokingly responded with “Will Ferrell,” before revealing his answer.

He then went on to say: “Originally when I played it – when he was alive, god rest his soul – I thought Heath Ledger could be a good young version of [Wolverine].”

However, when asked if it would feel strange seeing somebody else play the iconic X-Men character, Jackman responded: “It would be a little bit weird.”

However, the Logan star went on to state that “he knows” that he will one day be replaced by another actor in a potential reboot – something that may now just be as simple as passing the torch to a Wolverine variant.

“It would be weird, but it’s going to happen.”

Now, 10 years later, Jackman is set to reprise the role once again in ‘ 2024  3 alongside Ryan Reynolds – so it doesn’t look like Hollywood’s done with  yet!

Heath Ledger was one of the biggest rising stars in the 2000s, from roles in classics such as 10 Things I Hate About You to playing what  fans say to be the best live-action  of all time in ‘s .

Ledger sadly passed away on January 22, 2008, at the age of 28 after an overdose that involved various prescription drugs.

To this day, Ledger’s name and performances are still beloved by millions worldwide.

Deadpool 3 comes to theatres on July 26, 2024.
