In the new documentary Never Too Late, legendary singer Elton John (77) speaks brutally honestly about his life and mortality, admitting, “I don’t know how much time I have left.” He frequently reflects on his mortality and has faced numerous health issues in recent years.
After a fall, Elton had to undergo surgery on both knees and his right hip, which forced him to postpone his farewell tour in 2021. In a scene from the documentary, while sitting in his dressing room during his final tour, Elton looks at his belongings and wonders, “What will happen to this when I’m done? This is the last moment of my life. I don’t know how much time I have left,” as reported by Mirror.

He continues, “You think about these things more when you reach my age. You think about life and death. You think: ‘Well, now I just want to be where I want to be.’” The music legend, now 77, reflects on his long career and health issues.
Elton John, who has an army of fans worldwide, including in our country, recently attended the Never Too Late premiere in New York. He humorously admitted, “To be honest with you, there’s not much left of me. I don’t have my tonsils or appendix. I don’t have my prostate. I don’t have my right hip or either knee. Basically, all I have left is my left hip. But I’m still here, and I can’t thank you enough – you made me.”

Elton, who is married to David Furnish, with whom he has two sons, expressed his desire to live long enough to see his sons grow up, get married, and have children. He knows it might not happen but is determined to make the most of his time with them.
The documentary also touches on his difficult childhood. Elton revealed that his father never hugged him, and these childhood traumas pushed him into a life of addiction, including drugs and alcohol, which he spoke about in 2015 during a visit to Oxford University students. His relationship with David and becoming a father dramatically changed his life, and he has since prioritized family over his career.
