Growing an Apple Plant at Home: A DIY Guide

Introduction: If you have access to a garden or a piece of land, the idea of cultivating your own fruit plant, such as an apple tree, can be both rewarding and straightforward. Growing an apple plant from a seed is a simple process, starting with obtaining seeds from a ripe apple. The ripeness ensures a higher likelihood of quick seed germination.

Growing an Apple Plant: Step-by-Step Guide

Obtaining and Preparing Seeds:

  1. Take a very ripe apple and cut it almost in half, avoiding going all the way to the center with the knife.
  2. Rotate the apple, and it will split into two parts, leaving the seeds intact.
  3. Collect the seeds and place them in a glass or plastic container with a small cloth napkin.

Germination Process: 4. Place the napkin in the container, close it, and spray it generously with water using a spray bottle.

  1. Position the container in a well-lit area of the house, avoiding direct sunlight.
  2. After 10 days, check the seeds, and you will notice some have already sprouted.

Transplanting Seedlings: 7. Take a small pot with a diameter of about 10 cm and fill it with fresh soil.

  1. Create a hole in the center and place the seed with the root downwards and the head facing upwards, burying it about 3 centimeters deep.
  2. Spray the soil with plenty of water and position the pot in a well-lit area, avoiding direct sunlight.

Plant Growth and Maintenance: 10. After two days, the seedling’s head will emerge, gradually growing stronger with each passing day.

  1. Around 3 months later, you’ll observe a lush plant in the pot, reaching a height of about ten centimeters.
  2. The seedling needs to become larger and more robust before grafting.
  3. After a few years, the apple plant will reward you with delicious fruits.

Growing an apple plant at home is a fulfilling journey from seed to fruit-bearing tree.
